#thebabebungalow

Let me begin by explaining how I ended up calling our home "The Babe Bungalow" around Instagram. If you've ever been to our house, you know we lack a little in the square footage department. It's been a welcomed challenge to fit our growing family in this space; emphasis on "challenge."

In search of small living inspiration I did what I always do best. Stalked Instagram. And Pinterest.  Somewhere along the way I came across Whitney Leigh Morris' profile and fell in love with her space. Her vibe is simple, yet totally stylish with a touch of boho. Plus, she makes living in 362 sq. ft. look down right luxurious which is impressive all in itself. Finding her profile is what led me to name our space. It seemed like such a fun idea to give a home a life and personality of its own, all while allowing people to follow along via hashtag.

Having our own place has actually breathed new life into how much I truly dig interior design. I want to explore my creative side through different passion projects, especially while I am home with the babes. And who knows where #thebabebungalow could lead?

As for the actual name: "babe" is the term I've always used to describe my two loves. Since most of our house is focused around their little lives it felt right to include it. And "bungalow" seemed like a clever way to describe our small-ish living space, which is another important feature of our home. So many decision in the remodel process were born out of these two aspects, so it made sense to include them both.

I hope you enjoy following along on our adventures, and more recently around our home. Now where to put this thing...

Leopard Is a Neutral

As you can tell by the last few posts, I am all about my neutrals lately. There is something sophisticated and easy about an entire neutral tone look. Oh, and I am 100% on the "leopard is a neutral" train. Are you?

Beach | Birthday!

For as long as I can remember Jeff has been drawn to surfing. He literally needs it. So when I heard he was taking the day off for his birthday, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to finally take some photos of him in action. Since I'm his sister (and biggest fan) I can brag a little. Although, these photo's pretty much speak for themselves.

Most of you probably saw my "beach hair don't care" post (if not, you can catch it HERE), and wondered what I was doing in Huntington at 11 a.m. babe-free...

Well the cat's out of the bag, I was celebrating Huntington's newest resident/birthday boy! After years of dreaming about living at the beach, Jeff now has a sweet little spot of his own just a few blocks back from the water. To say I'm excited for him is an understatement. To say I'm not jealous would be a lie. It's amazing

I can't think of a better brother or anyone who deserves this happiness more. It was a beautiful day, a fun celebration, and the perfect start to another year.

Jeff told me one of the tricks to keeping his custom board and gear clean is by resting the nose inside the leash while he's getting ready to head home.
Here's a close up: Jeff's board is literally a piece of art. So cool.

But First Coffee

This mantra pretty much sums up my life. I do my best to remain positive, come from a place of grace, and try new things whenever possible...

...ok, but first coffee.

Sunnies On Sunnies

Old Navy completely hooked it up this year (per usual) in the accessories department. The babe's sunnies game is going to be extra strong at the beach this summer, and at the pool in VEGAS this May! Savvy and I decided the only place we want to spend our birthday this year is poolside in Sin City. And 4 seems like the appropriate age to make that sort of decision, right? Good. Vegas it is!

Olive Tone

Real quick, did you catch the special edition Fri-yay post on how I clean my makeup brushes? No? Then be sure to go and check that out ASAP. Go ahead, I'll wait here...

Welcome back! If you feel like the "basics" section of your closet needs a boost, consider this olive shade your new best friend. This vest specifically caught my eye because of it's gray undertones, a hard trait to find in most olive pieces.

Why I love it: it's an easy neutral to style/work with, more interesting than actual nude colors, and feels unexpected. Ready to try olive for yourself? Here are a few of my top picks:

Spring Cleaning | Part I (Makeup Brushes)

(Dirty brushes, don't judge)
Welcome back and Happy Fri-yay! As you know I wasn't able to post each day this week, so in honor of the new season I'm going to bring you a fresh series focusing on different tips that help me get my Spring cleaning done in the most efficient way possible. I'll also show you some of my favorite products and how I like to use them.

To kick this Spring cleaning series off I am going to share the updated way I clean my makeup brushes. Cleaning your face brushes is important when it comes to keeping your skin clean. Just think of the dirt and oil they collect, and then imagine stippling that onto your face. It can also help in prolonging the life of each brush, which is crucial if you've invested in nice ones. I've had some of my MAC brushes since 2005!
After a few months of wanting this Sigma brush cleaning glove, I realized I could save a lot of money by purchasing a Cuisinart silicone oven mitt instead (pictured above.) It has cut my brush cleaning time in half, does a waaay better job than simply swirling it around in my palm, and was literally under five dollars at TJ Maxx. I pair it with this Simple gentle foaming cleanser (I am beyond obsessed with this as a face wash too) and have been really happy with the results.

I'm hoping this combo helps keep me on track in regards to cleaning my brushes on a more regular basis, and now possibly for you as well.

Tunic Top

Spring is officially here, and I for one couldn't be more excited. Between Spring cleaning and Spring fashion these next couple of months always prove to be some of my favorite each year.

For this look I busted out a few older pieces that I have styled and re-styled each Spring for the last few years. This tunic top is a great example as well as a staple in my closet. The funny part is I think I paid under 12 dollars for it! It just goes to show you the pricey items aren't the only ones you reach for year after year.

Lucky

Most of you saw my snapshot on Instagram of Hudson boy in all of his St. Patrick's day glory, (HERE) so I thought I would take a minute and share Savvy's Irish #OOTD. All the details on where you can find these pieces are below.

Shake Your Shamrock!

Gone are the days I used to stay out all night shaking my shamrock, so instead I thought I'd get really crazy with some new St Patrick's Day home decor! (Insert laughing/crying emoji face here.) All kidding aside, my little leprechauns and I will be celebrating with green milk and all kinds of shenanigans, which to be honest seems pretty lucky in my book!
