Ready | Set | Flamingo

Saturday morning marked the last and final birthday celebration for our Savvy girl. She had more parties than she is years old, but I have to say this last one may have been my favorite. The flamingo theme was really fun to work with, and I'm really pleased with how all of the elements turned out.

Our guests snacked on Savvy's favorite doughnuts, drank Starbucks coffee, and left a little note/wished her well in this adorable Flora and the Flamingo book. I really like having this as a keepsake from the day, but it also serves as another decorative accent for the main table.
We set up our teepee (HERE) and stuffed flamingo (HERE) for a little photo booth situation. Each family got to snap a group shot before leaving the park.
Our good "bags" were actually beach buckets with a jump rope inside. We added homemade zebra flamingo popcorn (you know, the kind with chocolate melted all over it?) in little bags as well. (*Note: you can easily coordinate this treat to match your theme by buying colored chocolate melts.)
We decided to kick it old school and play ring toss! Flamingo style of course...the babes loved it!
And honestly, who doesn't love a piƱata? Find it HERE
Let's go back for a minute and discuss the invitations. So good, right? Per usual Heather of River & Bridge hooked it up. (I'm also feeling her pineapple party invitations in a big way!) Heather created a custom invitation for Savvy's party and made it so I could print, cut, and send them myself which helped me stick to my party budget. I love how clean looking it is while still feeling girly and perfectly "Savvy."

Instant Camera

These are the type of pictures that I would have loved to have caught on film with my new Instant Camera. Savvy and I first saw these at Urban Outfitters a while back and she we wanted one ever since. You can imagine how excited we were when we spotted them on sale (25% off!) at Michael's earlier today. They have a whole new crop of bright colors (hello coral!) but I'm still a big fan of the original colors like rose, and the yellow one we bought.

Michael's is also where I am going to purchase the film, since the cashier told me the weekly 40% off coupons I already get apply to the film! Just sign up for the email list next time you hit up Michael's and stock up!

Miss Independent

Savannah has been extra clingy lately (in all of the best ways) but I'm not really sure what sparked her new found desire to be near me. Miss independent is usually the first one to shy away from cuddles. Even as a baby she wasn't much of a snuggler, so I am all about the extra love. Maybe it's just a phase, and if so, I hope it lasts for a while...

Happiest Place on Earth

It's currently 11:30 on a school night and we just left Disneyland and California Adventure! We are seriously so exhausted and yet, deliriously happy. Somehow we managed to see/do everything we wanted to in spite of the 60th anniversary celebration. It was literally magical.

Little Black Dress

Finding a dress to wear to a semi-formal evening wedding at a country club can be a challenge. First of all you don't want to be the dressiest one there, but you also don't want to be too casual. Then you have to consider the weather, accessories, and the whole shoe situation.

You guys can thank me later, but I've found the perfect wedding LBD! Semi-formal or formal event? Keep the details classic like I did: pearls, pumps and a bold lip. I wanted to funk my look up a little, so I added a moto jacket later in the evening as it started to cool off. Invited to a day time/less casual wedding? Wear strappy heeled sandals and bold statement earrings with a clutch in a coordinating color.

 Problem solved.

Can we talk about this wedding for a minute? As I mentioned on my Instagram it was exquisite. The bride was stunning, the venue (the Sherwood Country Club) was amazing, and the DJ did not disappoint. I'm so happy for the new Mr. & Mrs!

Yellow Raincoat

These facial expressions capture the babe's perfectly. I don't know what it is about the rain (from the other day), his yellow raincoat, or her sweet smile...but these two had me wrapped around their finger and managed to talk me into letting them puddle jump after the rain.

Lunch is Served

I've been on this salad kick lately so I thought I would share the one that's been on constant repeat, as in daily, for the last two weeks. This arugula pasta salad is seriously tasty, fairly healthy and ridiculously easy to make. I don't follow a specific recipe each time, but go along more of a general guideline...so here it is:

1-2 handful of organic arugula
About a teaspoon of fat free feta crumbles
1 cup of penne pasta, (as seen inside bowl)
5-7 cherry grape tomatoes, halved (not pictured on tray, oops!)
1 teaspoon grape seed oil
Generous squeeze of lemon juice
Let me know if you try it. Enjoy!

Plum Pretty

Getting ready just got a whole lot more...pretty. Plum Pretty Sugar that is. A certain four year old little miss got a new robe for her birthday, and I don't know who is more excited about it...

(*Hint: it's most likely me.)
But I threw in a My little Pony coloring book which sweetened the deal. Truth is, even toddlers can see how beautiful and sweet these robes are, and everyone likes to feel that way.

Having a girl is so much fun. For you mama's of little girls, what sweet traditions do you have or hope to get started? Do you like to match your babe as well? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

V E G A S | Birthday Dinner

You know it's been waaay too long since your last trip to Vegas when they build an entirely new town center in what used to be a dumpster alley right outside of your go-to hotel. (The Flamingo for those who were wondering.) This place was awesome, and if you're traveling with babes I would highly recommend it. Don't get me wrong, not much in Vegas is specifically "kid friendly," but this outdoor area is close. It's clean, casual and somewhat enclosed. Did I mention they had a 24 hour Starbucks? Oh ya, there's that.

(Keep scrolling for more details on the rest of our night...)
Then it was on to Caesar's Palace for my (our) birthday dinner. The boys had scouted out the perfect restaurant during the day, and it did not disappoint! If you ever get the chance to grab dinner at Trevi (you know the one under the big fountain right when you walk into the Forum Shops?) take it. It's part of the Morton's Restaurant Group, and the best Italian I've ever had. I'm not even going to get started on the tiramisu...

V E G A S | Pool Life

Let's keep it real: Vegas with the babes, tons of help or not (thanks Pop-Pop & Mimi!) is a whole different kind of trip. But if I can keep it 100 with you, I loved it. The car ride is slower, the nights aren't as late, and the mornings come way too early for sin city, but at the end of the day there is no one else I would rather spend my birthday with.
As for this swimsuit, it's a serious showstopper and you need it in your life, and here's where you can find it:
