Red, White & These Two

Like I said on Instagram, long weekends are where it's at! I've always loved the 4th of July, and this year was no exception. Summer seems like it's flying by (am I right?!) but somehow over the weekend time slowed down a little, and I was able to just take it all in.

We ate doughnuts with red and blue sprinkles, played at the park, and made a visit to the splash pad. We spent time with family and time to ourselves. We weren't able to squeeze in a nap...but I didn't even care. It was that good.

The best part about a weekend well spent is being able to look forward to the week ahead. I'm ready for you Monday, but promise to go easy on me until after my first cup of coffee. Okay?

Sister + Brother

Remember when I said Hudson Boy was way out of my league? Well he still is, and becomes more and more so every day. Savannah on the other hand has this kid on lockdown! Hudson has definitely met his match in her.

I remember wondering what their relationship would be like while I was pregnant with Hudson. I clearly remember thinking she was going to resent him because she would have to split all of the attention we used to give just her. While I'm sure there is a trace of that in her, she mostly just cares for him. Cares for him in a way that is so mature and sweet. It's actually funny to watch sometimes. She'll tell him "Hudson, you know you can't do that...you don't want to end up in time-out...do you?"  (In almost a quiet/serious voice when she thinks i'm not listening.) I know their relationship is bound to evolve as they get older, but for now I'll enjoy the view from here and pray it continues on this path...
(Don't worry, that's just an industrial grade electric outlet he's playing with...)

He's Out of My League

I realized today that raising a little boy is way out of my league...
I get Savannah. She is literally a tiny version of me in so many ways. But Hudson Boy? I'm still learning what makes him, him. You would think getting my degree in psychology and having to study birth order and gender differences would have given me some clue, but I'm totally wingin' it. Shhh.

Take these photo's for example. Savannah would have never attempted something like this at his age. She would have been very timid at first, then slowly talked into giving it a try. Hudson on the other hand, was so eager to jump on and "go fast." He was highly frustrated (as you can see above) that attempt one didn't have him circling the loop like he saw his older buddies do a few days before. Instead of giving up though, he tried a few different tactics...one of which was leaning forward in hopes that the momentum would make it go. Adorable. Soon enough he understood how to use his leg to push off and quickly got the hang of it. Hudson may be unfamiliar to me in a few insignificant ways, but our souls are the same. I love this boy so fiercely for his determination and guts. He may be rough and tumble by nature...but they don't come any sweeter.

Target With Two

Let's be honest for a minute here. Target trips with these two can sometimes be a frustrating experience. Beyond frustrating with the right combination of not enough snacks and too long in the shoe department. (My bad.)

But at the end of the day, they are the coolest kids I know and I love getting to spend time with them.  Savvy reminds me how fun it is to get popcorn and stroll through the book aisle. Hudson helps me see how far a smile can take you. This boy practically stops people in their tracks. He's just so sweet. Being a babe has it's benefits, and I consider myself lucky to get the fringe of said benefits just by being their mama.

Yellow Raincoat

These facial expressions capture the babe's perfectly. I don't know what it is about the rain (from the other day), his yellow raincoat, or her sweet smile...but these two had me wrapped around their finger and managed to talk me into letting them puddle jump after the rain.

Easter | Part Two, "Hop To It"

The next morning we woke up bright and early to squeeze in time to see what EB left in our baskets, then it was off to church. Immediately after we headed over to my parent's house for more Easter shenanigans.

My mom put on a really delicious brunch for us, and then we all headed down to the park (they live on a park, so we just open up the back gate and head down) to play with the babe's new goodies. It was the type of day you look back on and remember with so much joy. Just a chill, good vibes only type of celebration. The kind I'm allllll about. The brunch spread may have had something to do with it...but then again, I'm a sucker for my mom's french toast casserole.

Easter | Part One

We kicked off our Easter weekend with a small and leisurely family breakfast at home Saturday morning. (See the kid friendly/festive table setup HERE). I really try and carve out some time, especially over a busy weekend like this, for our little family to do something special together. Later that day we headed over to Cory's parent's house for a beautiful Easter dinner. The babes loved looking for eggs and opening their baskets.

Sunnies On Sunnies

Old Navy completely hooked it up this year (per usual) in the accessories department. The babe's sunnies game is going to be extra strong at the beach this summer, and at the pool in VEGAS this May! Savvy and I decided the only place we want to spend our birthday this year is poolside in Sin City. And 4 seems like the appropriate age to make that sort of decision, right? Good. Vegas it is!

Baby Bag 2.0

It's a big day for the Taylor crew, we are officially baby bag free. Well, kinda. This actually took place a few weeks back, but I wanted to complete a trial run before bringing it to you. I'm happy to announce it was a major success, and here's why...

As Hudson is becoming more of a toddler and less a baby (*tear) I started to realize I was completely overpacking. I was dragging around my huge Petunia Picklebottom bag with things I wasn't using on a regular basis. Sure, it was reassuring to think, if all hell broke loose I would have whatever it took to clean up or fix the issue. But at the end of the day I want to lighten my load and figure out what works best for me at each stage. So for this stage I've found that a toddler backpack fits just enough (re: wipes, a few diapers, snacks, etc). It also doesn't hurt that it's the cutest little boy bag of all time.

Did you make this transition with your babes? Are you at that point where you feel like the switch to something a little smaller is on the horizon? Let's chat. Leave your comment below or hit me up on my Insty

Bows on Bows

It's like Valentine's day all over again! How sweet is this little boy bow tie? Our favorite Etsy shop, Genuinely Made just launched a bow tie line and we are pretty excited about it. So now, in addition to  the best leather hair bows, we can stock up on these instant outfit makers for boys too. Oh, and they clip right on to the collar for a really simple and sturdy attachment. Hudson didn't mess with it at all
